First Meeting of Independent Commission Of Enquiry

Independent Commission of Enquiry (ICOE), for the very time after their establishment on May 31 2018 as part of its national initiative to address reconciliation, peace, stability and development in Rakhine, officially met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor, U Thaung Tun, Union Minister for the office of the Union Government, U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for the International Cooperation, and Dr Win Myat Aye, Union Minister for the Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and Vice-Chairman of Union Enterprise for Humanitarian Assistance, Resettlement and Development in Rakhine (UEHRD).
During the meetings, the Term of References (ToR) of ICOE was discussed and ICOE was also informed of the related work of the government in Rakhine State, the progress between the two governments of Myanmar and Bangladesh on early repatriation of the displaced persons with the principles of “voluntary, safe and dignified return” and the establishment of the Secretariat of ICOE and its composition. The press briefing of the first visit of ICOE by Chairperson of ICOE, as a spoke person of ICOE was held in Thingaha Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw.
